Greenbelt, MD: AQUATIC AND FITNESS CENTER INCIDENT UPDATE

Dear Greenbelt Community,

We regret to inform you of a distressing event that occurred on Wednesday, February 23. At approximately 11 am, a valued resident of Greenbelt and patron of the Greenbelt Aquatic and Fitness Center experienced a medical emergency. Our dedicated staff immediately provided care and called 911 without delay. 

Responding promptly, the Prince George’s County Fire Department provided care and transported the individual to a local hospital for specialized care. Despite the best efforts of all involved, we were deeply saddened to learn that the patron passed away at the hospital. The cause of death is currently unknown and is pending further investigation. 

The City of Greenbelt extends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the patron during this difficult time. We also want to recognize the quick actions of our Aquatic Center staff and the emergency personnel for their efforts.

In respect to the privacy of the individual and their family, we will refrain from sharing further details. We ask our community to join us in sending thoughts of comfort and compassion to all who are affected by this loss.
