Maryland State Fire Marshal Investigating Fatal House Fire In Hagerstown
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD (November 12, 2025) – The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred late Tuesday night in Hagerstown.
Positive identification of the deceased is pending. The victim has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
At 11:12 p.m. on November 11, 2025, firefighters from the Longmeadow Volunteer Fire Company, Hagerstown Fire Department, and surrounding departments responded to the 300 block of Chimneystone Court following a report of a house fire. Firefighters later located the victim inside the home.
Deputy State Fire Marshals determined the fire originated in the kitchen area. No working smoke alarms were found in the home. Accelerant Detection K9 Quinn responded to assist investigators. No additional injuries were reported.
This is the first fatal fire reported in Washington County this year. The Office of the State Fire Marshal urges all Marylanders to have working smoke alarms on every level of their homes and sleeping area.
