Annual Fireworks Safety Media Event & Demonstration
HOWARD COUNTY, MD (June 11, 2025) - The Office of the State Fire Marshal will host a Fireworks Safety News Conference on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. to provide the media and public with accurate, up-to-date information regarding Maryland’s fireworks laws and safe usage—particularly concerning Ground-Based Sparkling Devices, which remain a topic of frequent confusion across the state.
The event will feature remarks from Acting State Fire Marshal Jason M. Mowbray, along with expert speakers from:

A live safety demonstration will be conducted by the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s Bomb Squad, showcasing both legal and illegal explosive devices. All speakers and participants will be available for group or individual media interviews following the demonstration.
