Preliminary Cause: While the cause remains under investigation, investigators can not rule out a failure of the wood stove fluepipe
Additional Information: The owners noticed smoke and later discovered a fire on the side of the home. Passersby observed the house on fire, and a Royal Farms employee attempted to use a fire extinguisher; however, the fire quickly spread upwards and throughout the home. Due to the home's balloon frame construction, firefighters continued to extinguish fire and hotspots for hours into the early morning. Friends and the American Red Cross are assisting the owners and their 10-year-old child.
