Preliminary Cause: Under Investigation - a malfunctioning kitchen appliance cannot be ruled out.
Additional Information: An adult resident was watching a young child when she discovered a fire in the kitchen. Both were able escape safely. It was initially reported that a person may been still inside, and it was later determined that person was not home. A total of eight occupants are displaced and are being assisted by friends, family, and the American Red Cross. One dog perished as a result of the fire.
