Injuries or Deaths: The two occupants were evaluated by EMS on the scene for minor burns to their feet, however, refused transport

Area of Origin: Front porch 

Preliminary Cause: Accidental - due to heat tape igniting combustibles within a cat carrier. 

Additional Information: The two occupants (mother and daughter) discovered the fire on the front porch, on and around the cat carrier, and escaped out the front door. The fire quickly spread to the remainder of the home. Two cats were able to escape, and one is presumed to have perished. The home is a complete loss. Harford County Disaster Assistance is assisting the family.
