WOMAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH BOONSBOORO SHEETZ FIRE
WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD (June 24, 2020) - Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged a Clear Spring woman after it was determined she started a fire inside a local Sheetz store. On June 15, 2020, at approximately 8:30 p.m, a fire was discovered inside a Sheetz store bathroom located at 20723 National Pike In Boonsboro. Sheetz employees and customers contained the fire before the arrival of the Mt. Aetna Volunteer Fire Department.
Deputy State Fire Marshals determined April Dimattei Love of the 12600 block of Rockdale Road in Clear Spring was responsible for causing the fire. Investigators determined Love ignited ordinary combustibles within the trashcan and proceeded to leave the store. A total of ten customers and employees were in the store at the time of the fire. It is estimated the fire caused approximately $500.00 in damages.
Love has been charged with Arson 1st Degree, Arson 2nd Degree, Malicious Burning 2nd Degree, Arson - Trash Container, and Reckless Endangerment. Love was arrested without incident yesterday morning and transported to Washington County Detention Center. She is currently being held without bond.
