Description of Structure / Property: Two-Story, Wood Frame, Single-Family Dwelling

Injuries or Deaths: No deaths, three injuries: One Firefighter sustained a hand injury and was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton for treatment and later released. A 13-year-old male suffered superficial burns to his arm and hand while rescuing a 64 year old woman from the house, and was also transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton for treatment and later released. The 64-year-old woman suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to approximately 10% of her body. She was transported via the Trooper 6 medevac helicopter, in stable condition, to Bayview Burn Center to receive treatment.

Preliminary Cause: Accidental as a result of smoking while on home oxygen.
Additional Information: The 12-year-old and 13-year-old are credited, along with a neighbor, for reporting the fire and rescuing the 64-year-old woman from the house. Two family cats perished as a result of the fire and two additional family cats are unaccounted for at this time.
