Fatal Fire in Garrett County Under Investigation
GARRETT COUNTY, May 6, 2019 - A mobile house trailer fire, that resulted in one fatality, is under investigation by fire marshal deputies in Swanton, Maryland.
Neighbors called 9-1-1 after hearing an explosion and witnessing flames early Monday morning. The Garrett County Sheriff's Department was the first on scene, shortly followed by the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department, who discovered the remains of the victim inside the home.
Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division is assisting with the investigation of the fatality. The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine their identity and cause of death.
