Preliminary Cause: Accidental - due to items on the stove being ignited after Delmarva Power turned on power in preparation for occupant to move in.
Additional Information: Unbeknownst to the occupant and Delmarva Power, items were on the stove when the power was turned on for the occupant, who was going to move in later today. Investigators determined a burner on the stove was on and ignited items on top. The fire subsequently spread throughout the kitchen until smoke was observed by a neighbor. Red Cross is assisting the owner and her daughter.
