Smoke Alarm Status: Present - did not activate due to the fire originating and being contained to the exterior of the dwelling

Preliminary Cause: Accidental - due to electrical failure 

Additional Information: The owner was using an electric smoker plugged into an exterior wall outlet.  Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire prior to breaching the attic. The family was  not displaced.
