OSFM Participates in Talbot's Purple in the Park

TALBOT COUNTY, June 16, 2018,  Deputy State Fire Marshals from the Upper Eastern Regional Office participated in “Purple in the Park” for the initiative “Talbot Goes Purple” at Idlewild Park in Easton Saturday afternoon.

Talbot Goes Purple is a substance abuse awareness program that will engage the community and youth to stand against substance abuse.

Talbot Goes Purple is an initiative from Talbot County Sheriff’s Office and Tidewater Rotary, in partnership with Talbot County Public Schools and Mid-Shore Community Foundation.

Talbot County Sheriff Joe Gamble requested the Office of the State Fire Marshal to participate in Purple in the Park alongside our other public safety partners in law enforcement as well as area fire departments.  Events included a K9 demonstration by the Talbot County Sheriff’s office as well as activities for kids.  The Office of the State Fire Marshal was at the park with one of their bomb disposal robots and conducted a short demonstration for attendees.  Deputies answered questions about the robot as well as fire safety for both children and adults.  DSFM Chris Fenzel even donned a bomb suit in the June heat to pose for a picture with Sheriff Gamble.
