Active Scene at a Fire and Explosion Incident
Washington County, MD (August 25, 2016) -- The Office of the State Fire Marshal is currently on the scene of an active fire and explosion at a 10,000 sq. ft. two-story single family dwelling located at 14205 Hollow Road in Hancock, Maryland.
The incident was reported at 8:51 a.m. this morning. Nearly 70 firefighters from Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia volunteer fire departments are currently operating at the two-alarm blaze. A female occupant was inside the residence when the incident occurred and was able to escape the home without injury. An off-duty Maryland State Trooper living in the immediate vicinity responded and assisted the occupant away from the home.
A team of investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal are currently on scene and will begin an investigation into the origin and cause of the fire and explosion.
