Small Blaze Strikes in the Basement of
Maryland State Police HQ - Building "C"
Baltimore County, MD (8/2/16) -- Investigators with the Office of the State Fire Marshal responded to the Maryland State Police Headquarters Compound located at 1201 Reisterstown Road in Pikesville, after Baltimore County Fire Department extinguished a fire contained to a storage room in the basement of Building "C". The building supports multiple departments of the Maryland State Police to include the headquarters for the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 6:15 p.m. and brought the fire quickly under control. The bulk of the fire was contained to a single room of the basement with heat, soot and smoke damage throughout the three-story masonry structure. No injuries were reported during the incident.
Investigators determined the fire was started after an electric fan failed and ignited nearby combustibles inside the unoccupied room. Damage estimates to the structure and contents is valued at $100,000.
