Goals vs. Aspirations
The Maryland Green Registry member profiles offer twenty different topic areas for members to share their environmental best practices including an "Annual Goals" checkbox to describe specific and measurable goals for the upcoming year. Missing, however, has been a place to share longer-term aspirational goals.
The new "Aspirational or Long-Term Environmental Goals" checkbox invites members to share the direction they've set in working toward more ambitious long-range outcomes. These goals can galvanize an organization to think creatively, learning and adjusting as it goes.
Examples of ambitious yet achievable goals include aiming to be a Zero Waste organization, achieving Net Zero Energy for your buildings, setting ambitious organization-wide greenhouse gas reduction goals, attaining certification with an independently-audited environmental program, and any far-reaching objective that requires a longer timeline and step-by-step progress.
What are your organization's stretch goals? Take a moment to share them with others by updating your member profile. We look forward to hearing from you!
