The Sustainability Leadership Awards are presented each year to recognize Maryland Green Registry members that have demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainable practices, measurable results, and continual improvement. This year, winners were asked to submit a short video showcasing some of their environmental best practices. To view these videos and messages from Lt. Awards were presented for the first time to state agency members of the Maryland Green Registry to recognize significant energy savings achieved as part of Governor Hogan's Executive Order 01.01.2019.08, which establishes energy use reduction goals at state-owned buildings.

2021 Sustainability Leadership Circle
The Sustainability Leadership Circle is an annual designation given to a select number of former Leadership Award winners that have demonstrated their commitment to continual improvement by implementing significant new sustainable practices in the previous year. The Sustainability Leadership Circle members are a testament to the benefits of strong environmental leadership, active green teams, goal setting, and measurement of results. Thank you to all the members who shared their organization's environmental certification achievements and who also generously offered their experience and expertise to help others interested in pursuing various certification programs. Prize Drawing: The names of five participating organizations were drawn from a hat to receive prizes and they were:
- Bethesda Green
- Garden and Garnish
- MedStar Harbor Hospital
- Town of Berlin
- WD Lab Grown Diamonds
The prizes, all produced by Maryland Green Registry members, included gift cards from Starbucks Landover Hills, local honey from Bee America, and ground coffee by Tobacco Barn Distillery/Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company.

Thank you to all the Maryland Green Registry members who shared the annual results of their environmental practices through their member profiles.
In total, members reduced
- 6 million pounds of waste
- 593 million gallons of fuel
- 482 million kWh of electricity
- 250 million gallons of water, and
- saved $94 million through sustainable practices
