Trail Work Day
October 4
9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the New Germany boat launch (weather dependent)
Volunteers are invited to join Garrett Trails and the Friends of New Germany State Park for a trail work day on October 4. Please come prepared for physically demanding work and bring your own drinking water and work gloves. The work day will conclude with food and drinks at noon, courtesy of the Friends of New Germany.

Halloween Full Moon Hike

7:30 p.m. at the Lake House (weather dependent)
Celebrate the season on this enchanted full moon hike featuring Halloween lights. This year's "Hunter's Moon" is also the "Harvest Moon," being closest to the autumn equinox. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp.

New Germany Book Club Meeting
October 5
10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Tamarack Pavilion
Join Ranger Noah for this month's Book Club meeting and share your thoughts on "A River Runs Through It" by Norman Maclean. The club meets once a month for coffee and snacks, while sharing insights and thoughts about a nature-themed book. Participants who attend six club meetings will receive a free night of camping. Scary Stories with Ranger Hannah

Savage Highlands State Park Tree Planting
October 7 (Rain Date - October 8)
Volunteers are invited to help plant 60 trees at Savage Highlands Lodge (formerly Savage River Lodge), located at 1600 Mt. Aetna Road, Frostburg. Please bring your own drinking water and work gloves. A four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended.
Please note that Savage Highlands State Park is undergoing renovations, so the park is only open for scheduled activities.

Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.

Annual Pass Available for Purchase
$75 for Marylanders; $100 for out-of-state visitors
Our annual State Parks and Trails Passport grants unlimited day-use admission and boat launching at state parks, and a 10 percent discount on state-operated concessions and boat rentals. To enhance convenience and value, this year's pass will arrive in a self-contained packet with a detachable hang-tag, and will be valid for a full year from the month of purchase. Our network of 75 state parks include more than 900 miles of trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding, as well as unique water access and camping facilities.
