Join us May 15 for the next Land Trust Roundtable, From Data to Conservation: How Maryland's Land Mapping Tools Support Conservation Strategy.
Led by the Maryland Environmental Trust and Chesapeake and Coastal Service (units of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources) and the Maryland Department of Planning, this roundtable will highlight the state’s land conservation data and interactive mapping tools. Presentations will include updates on the state’s efforts to collect comprehensive land trust and local conservation organization data, information on Maryland’s land data and GIS layers and a deeper dive into our mapping and planning tools. Meg Boyd and David Lillard Named 2025 Recipients of the Aileen Hughes Grant
The Aileen Hughes Grant, part of the Keep Maryland Beautiful Grant Program, is awarded annually to an individual representing a Maryland land trust who demonstrates outstanding leadership, partnership and innovation in land conservation. This year's recipients of the Aileen Hughes Grant are Meg Boyd, Executive Director of the Howard County Conservancy and David Lillard, Executive Director of the Catoctin Land Trust. Congratulations, Meg and David!

Remembering Greg Bowen
American Chestnut Land Trust’s Spring 2025 Newsletter is dedicated to their Executive Director Greg Bowen, who passed away on February 25, 2025. The newsletter contains over 25 tributes from colleagues and friends.
As you will see, Greg Bowen was a good friend to many and a champion for land conservation throughout Southern Maryland. His lifelong work will benefit generations to come. Greg reminded us that we are not owners of the land, but stewards. He made us see that everyone benefits by having a connection to nature. Read more.

USGS Friday's Findings: The First Wildlife Health Awareness Day

 Mapping Maryland’s Green Infrastructure
Green Infrastructure data and maps are readily available for government agencies, land trusts and other organizations interested in conserving Maryland’s critical natural resources.

 Restoration and Resilience Mapping
The purpose of the Restoration and Resilience Map is to support restoration and climate resilience activities. The map contains a collection of datasets to support landscape and parcel assessment activities.

 Land and Water Conservation Fund
DNR is now accepting preliminary applications for the federal LWCF grant program. This funding opportunity allows local governments with eligible projects to apply for grants ranging from $50,000 to $2 million.
