EGGstreme Easter Egg Hunt!
April 19
8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Lake House
Bring the whole family to this EGGstreme event, featuring more than 5,000 eggs hidden along 10 miles of trails within the park!
This event will involve hiking on trails with various difficulty ratings (some may not be suitable for small children). All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the entire activity.
Families can register at the Lake House at any time during the event. Candy and prizes will be awarded only to those who are registered and who return their eggs while supplies last.
Families should dress appropriately for hiking and bring their own necessities, such as drinking water and Easter baskets. Kona Ice will be on site. Trail maps will be provided.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of New Germany State Park, a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the park. Donations are welcome. For questions or to get involved as a volunteer, please email or call 301-895-5453.

Weed or Wildflower?

9-10:30 a.m. at the Native Plant Garden (weather dependent)
Want to help preserve our regional biodiversity? Bring your work gloves, kneeling pads, favorite weeding tools, and some elbow grease to remove unwanted plants from the garden.
As you work, you’ll learn how to identify common weeds and understand why protecting native plants is so critical for wildlife. Meet at the native plant garden near the Lake House. Please bring your own water bottle, insect repellent, and sunscreen.

Earth Day Wellness Walk (with Yoga)
April 22
10 a.m. at the Lake House (weather dependent)
Join Park Intern Bridget in celebrating Earth Day with a refreshing outdoor experience! Enjoy a peaceful 1-mile wellness walk followed by a rejuvenating yoga session surrounded by nature’s beauty. Breathe, move, and unwind in the great outdoors! Photo credit: Jenna Linhart

Earth Day Work Day

Team up with park staff and volunteers this Earth Day and help cleanup roadside trash that has made its way into the park. Please bring your own water bottle and dress appropriately for hiking on rugged terrain.

Arbor Day Hike
April 24
Celebrate Arbor Day on this moderate-to-difficult 1.5-mile hike and learn how to identify several tree species found along the way.

Take a Hike Tuesday
April 29

Join Ranger Noah on this challenging 4-mile hike and experience the revitalizing effects of outdoor exercise.

Friends of New Germany Volunteer Meeting

Anyone interested in volunteering or becoming a member of the Friends of New Germany State Park is encouraged to attend this quarterly meeting.

Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.

Annual Pass Available for Purchase
$75 for Marylanders; $100 for out-of-state visitors
Our annual State Parks and Trails Passport grants unlimited day-use admission and boat launching at state parks, and a 10 percent discount on state-operated concessions and boat rentals. To enhance convenience and value, this year's pass will arrive in a self-contained packet with a detachable hang-tag, and will be valid for a full year from the month of purchase. Our network of 75 state parks include more than 900 miles of trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding, as well as unique water access and camping facilities.
