Interested in tapping your own maple trees for syrup? Join Ranger Noah for this basic introduction class, where you will learn all the steps you need to make your very own maple syrup. This program will be about an hour long and include a small amount of walking to get out to the maple trees.

Park PROs: Birch Syrup Making

Come out and enjoy this fun and unique Park PROs opportunity to make syrup from birch trees. Ranger Noah will take you through all the steps you need to know to make your own birch syrup at home. The program will include a moderate half mile walk to get to the birch trees.

New Germany Book Club Meeting
April 13
Join Ranger Noah for this month's Book Club meeting and share your thoughts on "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson. The club meets once a month for coffee and snacks, while sharing insights and thoughts about a nature-themed book. Participants who attend six club meetings will receive a free night of camping. EGGstreme Easter Egg Hunt!
April 19
8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Lake House
Bring the whole family to this EGGstreme event, featuring more than 5,000 eggs hidden along 10 miles of trails within the park!
This event will involve hiking on trails with various difficulty ratings (some may not be suitable for small children). All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the entire activity.
Families can register at the Lake House at any time during the event. Candy and prizes will be awarded only to those who are registered and who return their eggs while supplies last.
Families should dress appropriately for hiking and bring their own necessities, such as drinking water and Easter baskets. Kona Ice will be on site. Trail maps will be provided.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of New Germany State Park, a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the park. Donations are welcome. For questions or to get involved as a volunteer, please email or call 301-895-5453.

$75 for Marylanders; $100 for out-of-state visitors
Our annual State Parks and Trails Passport grants unlimited day-use admission and boat launching at state parks, and a 10 percent discount on state-operated concessions and boat rentals. To enhance convenience and value, this year's pass will arrive in a self-contained packet with a detachable hang-tag, and will be valid for a full year from the month of purchase. Our network of 75 state parks include more than 900 miles of trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding, as well as unique water access and camping facilities.
