Natural Resources Police Officer (Lateral)
The Natural Resources Police is currently accepting applications for Natural Resources Police Officer. This position is the entry level of law enforcement work in the Department of Natural Resources. Employees in this class attend the Natural Resources Police Training Academy to learn how to enforce State and Federal Laws and departmental rules and regulations as they apply to conservation, boating, hunting, DNR-managed lands, criminal, civil and traffic violations. This recruitment is limited to current Maryland Police Officers, who possess a certification card as a current Police Officer by the Maryland Police Training and Standards Commission (MPTSC) or are eligible for certification via an MPTSC Comparative Compliance Training Course. Eligibility for comparative compliance is not guaranteed and will be determined by the MPTSC but may be available to individuals who were previously certified Maryland police officers who have been separated from law enforcement between 3 and 5 years and non-Maryland officers who completed an acceptable entrance level academy in another state or through the federal government. This is a statewide position, applicants selected for this position must be willing to be stationed anywhere in the State of Maryland.
