Annual Holiday Lights Hike

Explore the 1-mile Orchard Loop, decorated by candlelight and holiday lights for this self-guided hike. Be sure to drop by the Lake House before or after your hike for complimentary s’mores and hot chocolate.

Christmas Trivia Night

Join Ranger Hannah for a Christmas-themed trivia night and put your knowledge to the test! Prizes will be awarded to the winning individual or team. Complimentary s’mores will be provided.

New Germany Book Club Meeting

10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Lake House
Join Ranger Noah for this month's Book Club meeting and share your thoughts on "American Buffalo" by Steven Rinella. The club meets once a month for coffee and snacks, while sharing insights and thoughts about a nature-themed book. Participants who attend six club meetings will receive a free night of camping. Winter Solstice Celebration and Craft

Welcome in the first day of winter and the return of light! Stop by the Lake House any time between 2 and 4 p.m. to enjoy hot chocolate by the indoor fire and create a paper cup luminary for your home. Rangers will be on site to explain how certain species rely on daylight patterns for survival.

Furs, Feathers, and Skulls!

Drop by the Lake House for this hands-on program, where Ranger Hannah will be displaying a collection of furs, feathers, and skulls. Test your knowledge of local birds and mammals and learn about the unique traits that set these animals apart. This program is a "come-and-go" style display, so feel free to stop by at any point during the program hours.

Little Legs First Day Hike

All ages are welcome on this easy-to-moderate 1.5-mile hike on the Ice House Loop. Afterwards, warm up with some hot cocoa by the fire and receive your official “I Hiked!” sticker!
Four-Mile First Day Hike
January 1
2 p.m. at the Lake House
If you’re looking for a healthy start to the New Year, join Ranger Noah on this moderate-to-difficult 4-mile hike. Afterwards, warm up with some hot cocoa by the fire and receive your official “I Hiked!” sticker!

Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.

$75 for Marylanders; $100 for out-of-state visitors
Our annual State Parks and Trails Passport grants unlimited day-use admission and boat launching at state parks, and a 10 percent discount on state-operated concessions and boat rentals.
