Thank You, Ann Carlson!
Ann Gutierrez Carlson has been with Maryland Environmental Trust for nearly 17 years, all of which as part of MET's Conservation Easement Program, first as an easement planner and then starting in 2020 as the program manager. Ann has worked with landowners and land trust partners to complete 129 easement projects conserving close to 19,000 acres across Maryland.
Always willing to share her expertise and wisdom, Ann has trained multiple easement planners not only for MET, but throughout Maryland's land trust community. Her kindness, compassion, and zeal extends to both the natural and human world.
MET is grateful for Ann's exceptional service, dedication and passion. Our office will not be the same without her smile, quick-witted humor, and kind spirit. Ann's next adventure will take her on a new career journey. We are incredibly thankful for Ann's time with MET and wish her the best!

Stress and Injury in the Garden
You’re in the garden on a hot, sunny day. You haven’t had enough to eat or drink, and you’re really hungry and thirsty, though you feel that if you eat anything you might get sick. You’re getting sunburned here and there, and the rest of you is unnaturally pale and weak. Probably you shouldn’t be in the garden at all — The question in this scenario is: are you a gardener, or are you a plant? Read more.
