The EGGstreme Egg Hunt Continues!
Throughout April
If you missed this year's EGGstreme Easter Egg Hunt, you can still join in the fun throughout the month of April. If you happen to find any eggs while hiking the trails, please bring them to the Ranger Station (open daily, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.) to exchange them for candy!

Box Turtle Habitat Craft
April 13
2 p.m. at the Nature Center (next to the Lake House) Join volunteer naturalists Deb and Peggy for this kid-friendly craft-and-learn about some of the unique characteristics that help keep eastern box turtles safe in their natural habitat.

New Germany Book Club Meeting
April 14
10 a.m. at the Tall Oaks Pavilion Join Ranger Noah for this month's Book Club meeting and share your thoughts on "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer. The club meets once a month for coffee and snacks, while sharing insights and thoughts about a nature-themed book. Participants who attend six club meetings will receive a free night of camping. Please email noah.manges@maryland.gov to register.

Park PROS - Birch Syrup Making
April 20
2-3 p.m. at the Lake House Come out and enjoy this fun and unique Park PROs opportunity to make syrup from birch trees. Ranger Noah will take you through all the steps you need to know to make your own birch syrup at home. The program will include a moderate half-mile walk to get to the birch trees. Free samples will be offered at the end of the program.

Movie Night - The Lorax
April 20
7-9 p.m. at the Lake House Enjoy this free showing of "The Lorax" (Rated PG). Popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase at the Snack Bar, as well as complimentary s’mores.

Earth Day Work Day - Pulling Invasives
April 22
3 p.m.at the Lake House (weather permitting) Celebrate Earth Day by helping park staff remove garlic mustard and other harmful invasive plants throughout the park. No experience required.

Full Moon Hike
April 22
9 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting) Embrace the beauty of the forest under a full moon on this 1-mile hike with Ranger Noah. This "Pink Moon" will be the second full moon of spring. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp.

Take a Hike Tuesday
April 23
10 a.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting)
Join Ranger Noah on this challenging, 4-mile hike and experience the revitalizing effects of outdoor exercise.

Tree Talk Tuesday
April 23
3 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting) Join Ranger Noah and Student Intern Maddy on this moderate-to-difficult 2-mile hike and learn about some of the 16 native trees that are labeled throughout the park. This will be one of a series of tree talks, with each focusing on different tree species.

Park PROs - Conifers and Tea Hike
April 27
2 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting) Join Ranger Noah on this easy 1.5-mile hike, and learn all about the different species of conifer trees that grow in the area. Afterwards, learn how to make tea using needles from pine, spruce, and hemlock trees.

Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.

$75 for Marylanders; $100 for out-of-state visitors
Our annual State Parks and Trails Passport grants unlimited day-use admission and boat launching at state parks, and a 10 percent discount on state-operated concessions and boat rentals.
