Luminaries

February 17: Skiing by Candlelight 
5-9 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting) 

Enjoy this unique opportunity to ski at night, where the Turnpike Trail will be lit by luminaries from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. If snow conditions are not suitable for skiing, the luminaries will still be lit for any adventurous hikers out for a night hike. Make sure to stop by the Lake House for complimentary s’mores and hot cocoa!


Ingredients

February 18: Make-and-Take Bird Feeders
2-4 p.m. at the Lake House

Drop by the Lake House and learn how to make your own suet cakes and other bird feeders. This is a come-and-go style program, so feel free to stop by anytime during the program time period.


Lake House

February 18: Movie Night - Brother Bear
7-9 p.m. at the Lake House 

Enjoy this free showing of "Brother Bear" (rated G). Popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase at the Snack Bar, along with complimentary s’mores.


Winter Trail

February 19: Conservation's Greatest Presidents Hike
10 a.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting) 

Celebrate Presidents' Day on this easy-to-moderate 1.5-mile hike with Ranger Noah, and learn about a few of the U.S. presidents who played significant roles in wildlife conservation. 


Take A Hike Tuesday

February 20: Take A Hike Tuesday
10 a.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting) 

Join Ranger Noah on this challenging 4-mile hike and experience the revitalizing effects of outdoor exercise. The hike takes about two hours. 


Tree with Label

February 20: Tree Talk Tuesday 
3 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting) 

Join Ranger Noah and student intern Maddy on this moderate-to-difficult 2-mile hike, and learn about some of the sixteen native trees that are labeled throughout the park. This will be one of a series of tree talks, with each focusing on different tree species. 


Full Moon

February 23: Full Moon Hike
7 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting)

Embrace the beauty of the forest under a full moon on this 1-mile hike with Ranger Noah. This "Snow Moon" will be the last full moon of winter. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp.


Snowshoeing

February 24: Intro to Snowshoeing and Winter Hiking 
3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Lake House

Interested in learning a new activity this year? Join Ranger Julia for an instructional presentation on how to snowshoe and safely enjoy winter hiking. The first hour will be indoors, followed by an optional guided hike to practice new skills. A limited number of snowshoes will be available to try if there is adequate snow. All ages are welcome. No registration required.


Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.
