Looking Forward: Senior Rangers in May & June 2024

The Spring 2024 season of the Senior Rangers program will take place at Bohemia River State Park.

Winter Waterfowl at Bohemia

Observing ducks on the water is a special treat for those who venture outdoors during the winter. The leaves are off the trees, visibility is great on sunny days, and groups of dabbling ducks can often be seen near the shore of Burkalow and Great Bohemia Creek. Check out the DNR Midwinter Waterfowl Survey, conducted annually since the early 1960s, for species lists and population numbers Baywide.

Park service charges apply ($3 per vehicle for Maryland residents; $5 for out-of-state visitors), payable via credit card only at an automated entrance gate. Please dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.

The park will be open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to sunset for passive recreational activities such as trail use and nature observation. It can be accessed from Route 213 via a new public entrance at 4030 Augustine Herman Highway. Amenities at the park presently include a small parking area and multi-use trails.

In case of inclement weather, please contact the Bohemia River Duty Ranger regarding status of park programs: 667-500-2417.
