January 1: Self-Guided First Day Hike
8 a.m. - sunset at the Dans Mountain Pool area

Hike the new Lonacona Loop singletrack trail in the mixed hardwood forests of Allegany County's highest mountain! Expect to encounter rocky terrain, rugged hillsides, and 650 feet of elevation change along this moderately-challenging trail, creating the perfect start to your New Year's health, fitness, and recreation goals. Please sign in and pick up your "I hiked!" sticker at the trailhead by the Daniel Cresap Monument. No registration required.

Visit the Department of Natural Resources website for more First Day Hike options across Maryland.

Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.

Please call 301-895-5453 for additional information or to register.
