September 28: Weed or Wildflower? 9-10:30 a.m. at the Native Plant Garden (weather permitting)
Team up with the Friends of New Germany State Park and native plant enthusiasts to help remove unwanted plants from our native plant garden. As you work, you will learn how to identify common weeds and why protecting native plants is so critical for wildlife.
Please come prepared with your own work gloves, knee pads, tick spray, sunscreen, and water.

September 29: Full Moon Hike 8 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting)
Embrace the beauty of the forest under a full moon on this 1-mile hike with Rangers Noah and Hannah. This "Harvest Moon" will be the first full moon of autumn. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp.

September 30: Whatever Floats Your Boat! Noon at the Lake House (weather permitting)
Join Ranger Hannah for this kid-friendly challenge and see if you have what it takes to make a boat that will float - using bark, twigs, and other natural materials.

Join Ranger Noah on this moderate-to-difficult 2-mile hike and enjoy the beauty of the fall foliage as it begins to change.

October 2: Junior Ranger Sprouts - Week Four 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Tall Oaks Pavilion
October 9: Junior Ranger Sprouts - Week Five 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Tall Oaks Pavilion
New Germany State Park will host Junior Ranger Sprouts, a free program designed for children ages 2-4, every Monday from September 11 through October 9.
Each week, a nature-themed program will focus on one of the five senses -- taste, touch, hearing, smell, and sight. Programs will include a short walk, an art or music activity, and snack time. All children must be supervised by a parent or guardian throughout the program.
The programs are free (supported by the Friends of New Germany State Park), but donations are welcome. Registration is required for each weekly program. To register, please email noah.manges@maryland.gov.

October 14: Self-Guided Haunted Hike 6:30-10 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting)
If you're up for a spooky adventure, don't miss this opportunity to explore the haunted 1-mile Orchard Loop by candlelight! This is a self-guided activity, so feel free to begin your hike at any time, but please plan to return no later than 10 p.m. Be sure to drop by the Lake House before or after your hike for hot cocoa and s'mores. Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.
