Perryman Woods in Harford County Now Permanently Preserved Parkland
MET is thrilled to have partnered with Harford Land Trust and Harford County to protect the 32-acre Perryman Woods property with a new conservation easement. Perryman Woods is located across Forest Green Road from a 102-acre property owned by Harford County known as Forest Greens Park, which is also protected by a MET conservation easement.
Once slated to become a 21-home community, Harford Land Trust purchased Perryman Woods in 2018 following 12 years of negotiation. The US Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground, located close by the property, provided most of the acquisition funding through its Army Compatible Use Buffer ("ACUB") program, with additional contributions coming from community members and County stormwater mitigation fees. Then this September, Harford Land Trust completed the transfer of Perryman Woods to Harford County Parks & Recreation, while retaining the easement on the property co-held with MET. The project furthers the local land trust’s long held goal of expanding existing parkland and protected forests in the Perryman area. Read more.
