Beaver

Beaver Hike! October 7  at 10 a.m., meeting at the Upper Covered Bridge parking lot.

October's First Saturday Hike will be an excursion to view the beaver homes of Fair Hill. We're fortunate to have several beavers in residence, and they are fascinating. Join a ranger to hike to the dam, learn why we're so glad they're here, and possibly even see the beavers!

The hike will be approximately 3.5 miles in length over           uneven terrain. Due to the nature of the trails we will               cover, as well as the proximity to vulnerable habitat, this         hike will not be suitable for strollers or pets. The cost of         the hike is free, but normal day use fees will be in effect.

Please Note: Bridge Closures

Scott's Mill Bridge is closed for an exciting renovation. If you intend to use this area of the park in the coming weeks, please click through to Fair Hill's website for an enlarged version of our detour map.

On Ben Road, bridge 9 has been closed to motorized                                                          vehicular traffic, but remains open for other use.

Fall Foliage Prediction 2023: What Can we Expect?

Fall Foliage Photo Collage
Fair Hill NRMA is located in an area which was affected by drought earlier in the summer. Groundwater and stream flow are still not normal.
At this time, trees which are susceptible to drought, such as the many walnuts in our park, are looking worse for wear, and leaves have begun to fade to yellow. Tulip poplars, similarly, are turning yellow, but with crisped brown edges to the leaves. Their leaves have been dropping for some time.
Due to the conditions described, as well as the warm weather, we predict a below-average display of autumnal foliage in the area.
