August 30: Full Moon Hike 9 p.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting)
Embrace the beauty of the forest under a full moon on this 1-mile hike with Ranger Noah. This will be the last full moon of summer, known as the "Blue Moon." Please bring a flashlight or headlamp.

September 1: Old Time Jam 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Lake House
Musicians and listeners of all ages are invited to share and enjoy traditional “old-timey” music.
Snacks and gifts will be available for purchase.

September 2: How to Clean and Cook Your Catch! 4 p.m. at the Nature Center
During this hands-on program, Ranger Noah and Ranger Hannah will demonstrate different ways to clean fish and provide some tips for how to cook them over a campfire. This program will take place inside the Lake House if it rains.

September 2: Movie Night - Ferdinand 7:30 p.m. at the Lake House
Enjoy this free showing of "Ferdinand" (rated PG). Popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase at the Snack Bar, along with complimentary s’mores.

September 3: Introduction to Fishing 10 a.m. - noon at New Germany Lake (weather permitting)
During this informal how-to class, Rangers Brian and Noah will provide one-on-one instruction on basic fishing techniques for beginner anglers ages 6 and up. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Fishing gear and bait will be supplied. Participants ages 16 and up will need a valid Maryland non-tidal fishing license.

September 3: Make-and-Take Walking Sticks 3-4:30 p.m. at the Nature Center
Join Ranger Hannah at the Nature Center to make your own walking stick, while supplies last. This is a "come and go" activity, so feel free to drop by at any point during the program timeframe.

September 3: Campfire Stories 7:30 p.m. at the Nature Center
Bring the kids and gather around the campfire for an evening of storytelling with Ranger Hannah. Complimentary s’mores will be available. This program will take place inside the Lake House if it rains.

September 5: Take A Hike Tuesday 10 a.m. - noon at the Lake House (weather permitting)
Join Ranger Noah on this challenging 4-mile hike and experience the revitalizing effects of outdoor exercise.

September 7: Weed or Wildflower? 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the Native Plant Garden (weather permitting)
Team up with the Friends of New Germany State Park and native plant enthusiasts to help remove unwanted plants from our native plant garden. As you work, you will learn how to identify common weeds and why protecting native plants is so critical for wildlife.
Please come prepared with your own work gloves, knee pads, tick spray, sunscreen, and water.

September 9: Make and Take Bird Feeders 2-4 p.m. at the Lake House
Drop by the Lake House and learn how to make your own suet cakes and other bird feeders. This is a come and go style program, so feel free to stop by anytime during the program time period.

September 10: Yoga on the Beach 9 a.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting)
Relax and unwind during this casual morning yoga session with Ranger Hannah. Please bring your own towel, blanket, or mat. All skill levels are welcome.

September 11: Junior Ranger Sprouts - Week One 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Lake House
New Germany State Park will host Junior Ranger Sprouts, a free program designed for children ages 2-4, every Monday from September 11 through October 9.
Each week, a nature-themed program will focus on one of the five senses -- taste, touch, hearing, smell, and sight. Programs will include a short walk, an art or music activity, and snack time. All children must be supervised by a parent or guardian throughout the program.
The programs are free (supported by the Friends of New Germany State Park), but donations are welcome. Registration is required for each weekly program. To register, please email noah.manges@maryland.gov.

September 16: Who Lives in the Stream? 11 a.m. at the Lake House (weather permitting)
Join Ranger Hannah on this kid-friendly adventure and get a hands-on look at some of the creatures that live in Poplar Lick. Please wear shoes and be prepared to get your feet wet!

Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.
