Jon Chapman Retires After 30 Remarkable Years of Service
MET is grateful for Jon's outstanding service, loyalty, and dedication. Jon's retirement marks the end of an era for MET, but the impact Jon has made will endure, the stories he has told will be remembered, and his legacy will serve as an inspiration for future generations of conservationists and naturalists. Land Trust Monitoring Reports
Remember to submit your land trust's co-held easement monitoring reports for the first half of the calendar year 2023. Please submit reports for easements co-held with MET that were monitored between January 1 - June 30, 2023. Co-held monitoring report for this period are due by the end of July. Maryland Natural Resource Photo Contest Deadline is August 1
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is still accepting entries for its annual photo contest. Entries may include images from anywhere in Maryland featuring birds, insects, flora, recreation, scenic landscapes, weather, and wildlife. The 20th Annual Maryland Department of Natural Resources Photo Contest is open until 5 p.m. on August 1, 2023. Read more.

Branching Out is the free, quarterly newsletter of the Woodland Stewardship Education program. In the latest Branching Out newsletter, learn about the changes in the Woodland Stewardship Education program, including a new staff member. Maryland Planning Commissioners Association Conference
October 24-26 | Registration Fee
The 40th annual conference will offer topics of interest to the more than 1,400 citizen planners serving Maryland's counties and municipalities. The 2023 conference agenda is still being developed, but in addition to the state-mandated Planning Commissioner Training Course and the Open Meetings Act Training, session topics will focus on how planning commissions and boards can collaborate with planning staff, elected officials, and other stakeholders to address and prepare for the opportunities of the next 40 years. DNR Opens Grants Gateway for FY 2025
DNR's Grants Gateway application is open for local governments and organizations for FY2025. Through this process, funding is available for projects that restore local waterways, increase communities’ resilience to climate change and storm impacts, strengthen local economies, develop the next generation of environmental stewards, and more.

Climate Change Program
MDE's Climate Change Program oversees the development and implementation of the state's plan for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and conducts the state's greenhouse gas emissions inventory. MDE will conduct public outreach sessions around the state and online this summer and fall on the policies to include in Maryland’s GHG Reduction Plan, which will be published in December.
