The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has commenced Phase I construction at Barren Island as part of the Mid-Chesapeake Bay Island Ecosystem Restoration Project. Crews will be using the Fishing Creek area for initial staging, utilizing a nearby marina. The area around Barren Island will see an increase in barge traffic as a result of construction. Please use extreme caution when accessing the water immediately west of Barren Island and avoid the construction safety zone.
