MET's Model Deed of Easement
MET's Board of Trustees adopted an update to MET’s Model Deed of Conservation Easement on February 6, 2023. This February 6, 2023 model replaces the prior model dated February 2, 2021. This one change gives MET and its co-holder additional rights and thus required MET Board approval before inclusion in the MET Model. A PDF version of the newly updated MET Model Deed of Conservation Easement is available online. As of February 6, 2023, it is this model that MET will use when we begin new projects. If you have questions please contact Ann Carlson at ann.carlson@maryland.gov.

Message From Acting Secretary of Natural Resources Josh Kurtz
I am honored to serve as Acting Secretary of Natural Resources for the Moore-Miller administration. This is an exciting time for Maryland, and it is a privilege to be a part of a passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable team that is working to provide a healthier, sustainable environment.
Born and raised in Maryland, I am an avid hiker and camper with an annual personal goal of 30 nights outdoors. My love for our natural resources comes from years of enjoying them all across the state. Those experiences led me to pursue a wildlife conservation degree from the University of Delaware and a career focused on finding broader solutions to issues facing our shared resources. Read more.

Giving Props to Hunting Creek
A major Calvert County stream flows under Rts. 2/4 just north of the Plum Point Road. intersection and then meanders west for about 6 miles to the Patuxent River. Hundreds of motorists cross this stream every day. Most may not even notice it. If they do, how many know its name?
The name of the stream is Hunting Creek. Until recently, this important Calvert stream went largely overlooked, as it lacked signage to denote its existence. This all changed in October 2022 when two Hunting Creek signs were installed by the Maryland State Highway Administration in response to a request from the watershed advocacy group known as the Friends of Hunting Creek.
