Partnership Protects Talbot County Woodlands
The Talbot County property, owned by 500 Beaver Road II, LLC, protects 128.5 acres of land, including 100 acres of productive agricultural land, 9 acres of mixed deciduous woodlands, and 12 acres of installed wildlife habitat (impoundment and associated grass plantings). In addition, the property’s residential development potential has been completely removed, as the landowner chose to remove all residential rights from the property. By donating this easement and restricting the use of the property primarily to agriculture, the owners of 500 Beaver Road II, LLC have ensured the agricultural nature of this idyllic farm in Talbot County. Conservation Easement Donations
As Marylanders, we all know how lucky we are to call this state home. From the forested mountains of Garrett County to the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland has natural areas and scenic beauty rivaled by few states in the nation. You can play an important role in protecting Maryland's lands by agreeing to protect your land with a conservation easement.
By protecting your land with a conservation easement, you are committing to conserving scenic vistas and wildlife habitat, ensuring the future viability of farming and forestry, and conserving the rural character and natural beauty of communities all across Maryland. You can accomplish all of this without giving up ownership of the land you love. Visit MET’s FAQs page for answers to commonly asked questions about conservation easements.
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more please contact MET’s Easement Program staff, Ann Gutierrez Carlson or Michael Mingus.

Get Your Backyard Buffer Packet Before They are Gone
The Maryland Forest Service and the Potomac Watershed Partnership present the Backyard Buffers program, designed to assist homeowners who have a waterway on or adjacent to their property to create a streamside buffer of native trees and shrubs.
Backyard Buffers packet reservations are typically taken during the month of March, with bags available for pickup at a designated local site in time for the spring planting season. A limited number of bags are available each year on a first-come, first-served basis, so please call ahead. Learn more.
