January 1: First Day Hike
10 a.m. at Hill Run Group Campsite Pavilion (weather permitting)

Dans Mountain State Park is proud to offer a First Day Hike on a brand new trail! Participants will meet at the Hill Run Group Campsite Pavilion and be shuttled to the trailhead to avoid a steep return walk along the road. The hike will be three miles, traversing natural surfaces as you descend over 600 feet through forested, rocky terrain. Complimentary hot chocolate and "I Hiked" stickers will be provided for participants.

Leashed pets are welcome. This trail is not stroller or wheelchair accessible. Portable restrooms are located at the nearby Water Station Run fishing pond or the Mountain Top Pavilion off of Recreation Area Rd. This trail traverses several rocky areas that may be challenging with ice or snow present. Hiking poles are recommended.

Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and check for ticks.

Please call 301-895-5453 for additional information or to register.
