Welcome Shannon!
Shannon Taylor is serving at the Maryland Environmental Trust this year as our AmeriCorps funded Volunteer Coordinator. She recently graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a degree in Environmental Science and Policy. She has always had a passion for travel and the environment. During her undergraduate studies, Shannon spent three months in Costa Rica studying and exploring the natural world. She is very excited to be serving with the Trust and helping preserve such beautiful and important parcels of land in Maryland.

Baltimore County Landowner Meeting
In October, MET's Easement Program Manager, Ann G. Carlson, along with MET trustee Megan Benjamin, joined Baltimore County local land trusts at a forum to talk to more than 35 landowners about conservation easements. Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, Baltimore Neighborspace, Manor Conservancy, Long Green Land Trust and the Land Preservation Trust were also on hand for landowners to connect with. Many thanks to Ann Jones of the Baltimore County Land Trust Alliance for organizing the event.

2021 Southern Maryland Forum
In October, MET trustee and Executive Director of the American Chestnut Land Trust, Greg Bowen (in photo at left), and MET's Director, John Turgeon, presented at the 2021 Southern Maryland Forum hosted by the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay at Serenity Farm in Charles County. Their presentation focused on the just launched Southern Maryland Conservation Alliance and the important role that watershed friend groups can play in advancing conservation goals for the region. Focusing on all things urban wildlife, BGS will be joined by a Baltimore born and raised specialist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Dr. Ela-Sita's past research includes birds and bats in Maryland, Virginia, and Nevada. Learn more.
