MET Welcomes New Records Manager, Cindy!
Cindy Hoffmann is MET's Technology and Records Manager, responsible for formulating and implementing policies and procedures for managing digital and paper records, as well as managing our technology needs.
Before coming to MET Cindy worked for the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Laboratory Division for nearly 26 years. She managed the Central Receiving Unit which is responsible for receiving and tracking all evidence submitted to the laboratory for forensic analysis. She was also the Division's records manager which required overseeing thousands of analytical reports and other lab correspondence. She was an administrator of the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) a comprehensive database system that records the lifecycle of each piece of evidence in the laboratory.
In her spare time Cindy enjoys gardening, particularly vegetables. She has, most recently, been researching and incorporating native plants into her gardens to attract pollinators. When not digging in the dirt she loves spending time at the beach with her family collecting seashells and making memories. Cindy is excited to bring her experience and knowledge to the MET and looks forward to being a part of our team.

The Falconer
Please watch this inspirational documentary! One of only a handful of African American falconers in the country, Rodney Stotts is on a mission to build a bird sanctuary and provide access to nature for his stressed community. This is a story of second chances: for injured birds of prey, for an abandoned plot of land, for a group of teenagers who have dropped out of high school, and for Rodney himself. Much of this film is set at the DC Government's Oak Hill property near Laurel, Maryland. Maryland Environmental Trust together with Scenic Rivers Land Trust and Patuxent Tidewater Land Trust hold a conservation easement on a 250-acre portion of Oak Hill protecting extensive woodlands and wetlands that provide key habitat for birds of prey.

MET Seeks Volunteer Coordinator
Maryland Environmental Trust, in conjunction with Volunteer Maryland and AmeriCorps, is recruiting for an 11-month, full time Volunteer Coordinator.
The Volunteer Coordinator, an AmeriCorps Member, will coordinate and manage MET volunteer activities, as well as assist our land trust partners with recruitment and joint training of volunteers. MET's volunteers serve primarily as Land Stewards who visit properties protected with conservation easements to document land use and ensure that properties are being managed in compliance with easement restrictions. They photograph natural and built features of the properties and complete digital monitoring reports. Their visits help to foster and maintain working relationships with the landowners of easement properties and other lands we protect e.g. county and state resource areas. The AmeriCorps Member will also schedule and host educational seminars for our volunteers and easement landowners about the stewardship of conserved land.
To apply, please send a resume to MET’s Wendy Foster at Wendy.Foster@maryland.gov. The application deadline is August 15, 2021.
