2021 Aileen Hughes Recipient: Kate Patton

Part of the Keep Maryland Beautiful Grant Program, the Aileen Hughes Grant is awarded annually to an individual representing a Maryland land trust who demonstrates outstanding leadership, partnership and innovation in land conservation. This year's recipient of the Aileen Hughes Grant is Kate Patton, Executive Director of the Lower Shore Land Trust. Congratulations, Kate!

Cattle Farmers are Committed to the Environment

Hedgeapple Farm, owned and operated by the Jorgensen Family Foundation, is located in Frederick County and protected by an MET conservation easement. Dr. Scott Barao, who is Executive Director of the Jorgensen Family Foundation, recently wrote a Letter to the Editor of the Frederick News-Post citing the importance of land stewardship practices. Inaugural Garden Tour

On Friday, June 25, and Saturday, June 26, the Lower Shore Land Trust will hold their first-ever Garden Tour. Visit beautiful gardens landscaped with native plants and gain inspiration for your own gardening projects. The tour will be self-guided and cover 10 Pollinator-Friendly gardens across Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore. Learn more.
