Application Period is Open for 2021 Keep Maryland Beautiful Grants
The Maryland Environmental Trust is now accepting applications for the Keep Maryland Beautiful grants program. Applications will be accepted online for the next round of Keep Maryland Beautiful Grants from October 1, 2019 through November 14, 2019. Four different grants are being offered to help volunteer and nonprofit groups, communities, and Maryland land trusts. For more information on how to apply visit the grant application page.
The Keep Maryland Beautiful Grant Program is Maryland Environmental's Trust oldest program. Over the years, the program has expanded thanks to a robust partnership between the Maryland Environmental Trust, Maryland Department of Transportation, Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, and the Forever Maryland Foundation. Combined, this partnership has provided more than a million dollars over the past two decades to nonprofits, schools and local land trusts that work to protect natural resources while enhancing the lives of Maryland citizens and generations to come. Maryland Environment Trust and Harford Land Trust are grateful for the easement donation from a landowner who is very committed to conservation. The property is located within the Deer Creek Rural Legacy Area, and within prioritized areas for terrestrial and freshwater biodiversity conservation. The property is also adjacent to more than 100 acres protected through easements held by Harford County and Harford Land Trust.

Large Landscape Conservation in Southern Maryland
Southern Maryland has played a major role in the history of America. Native Americans valued its abundant fishes, wildlife, fertile soils, and temperate climate. Early colonists were drawn here for the same reasons plus its sheltered harbors for sea going vessels. Many of those same attributes are still present today and are worthy of preservation. Containing some of our country’s earliest settlements, Southern Maryland also has played a major role in our nation’s history.
