May 4: Build the Best Nest
1 p.m. at the Nature Center

Join one of the park's volunteer naturalists to learn why, where, when and how the birds build nests. Challenge yourself to build the best nest you can. 


May 5: Trail Workday
2 - 4 p.m. Meet at the Nature Center

Help us create safe access at the park by building new trails! Ages 10+. Please bring water, close-toed shoes and gloves.


Owl

May 11: Owl Pellet Dissection
10 a.m. at the Nature Center

Come learn about the habits and diet of owls by dissecting the pellets they leave behind. All ages welcome.


Invasive

May 12: Weed Warriors
2 - 4 p.m. at the Nature Center

Invasive species are a big problem for state parks. Help us fight back the invaders by pulling up some unwelcome plant species and learn how to combat them elsewhere. Bring water, close-toed shoes and gloves. Ages 10+.


Hike

May 18: Scavenger Hunt
1 p.m. at the Nature Center

How observant are you? What do you know about nature?  Come test your skill at finding natural items in and around the Nature Center!  All ages welcome.

May 18: Pollinator Talk
2 p.m. at the Nature Center

Learn about the importance of native pollinators and the plants that depend on them!  All ages welcome.


Turtle

May 25: Meet the Reptiles
1 p.m. at the Nature Center

Reptiles make up one of the interesting groups of animals found in the park. This will be a multimedia presentation to allow you to learn more about these varied animals.


Black Bear

May 26: All about Black Bears
2 p.m. at the Nature Center

While they are not common in our area, black bears are known to wander into the region. Learn more about these great creatures, and how bears and people can safely cohabit the same space.


Unless otherwise noted, events are held rain or shine, free and fun for all ages; donations are always welcome. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellent, bring plenty of water and snacks, and remember to check for ticks.

Annual Pass Available for Purchase
$75 for Marylanders; $100 for out-of-state visitors

Our annual State Parks and Trails Passport grants unlimited day-use admission and boat launching at state parks, and a 10 percent discount on state-operated concessions and boat rentals. 

To enhance convenience and value, this year's pass will arrive in a self-contained packet with a detachable hang-tag, and will be valid for a full year from the month of purchase. 

Our network of 75 state parks include more than 900 miles of trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding, as well as unique water access and camping facilities.
