We are now hiring for seasonal contractual positions throughout Patapsco Valley State Park and Soldiers Delight Natural Environment Area. 


Must be available nights, weekends and holidays. 

This is a contractual positions, not to exceed 10 months. 

Pay range is $11-14.50/hour, depending on position.

CONTACT STATION ATTENDANT 

  • Answer phones and provide information to visitors 
  • Assist with facility upkeep and maintenance 
  • Handle money and provide change 
  • Operate a computer reservation system 
  • Register campers

HISTORICAL INTERPRETER 

  • Assist in the organization and operation of historical events 
  • Conduct historical research 
  • Develop displays 
  • May require wearing historically appropriate clothing 
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of historic buildings 
  • Present historical tours and programs to patrons 

PARK RANGER

  • Monitor and clean campgrounds, bathhouses and restrooms 
  • Monitor recreational activities in the park, including but not limited to hunting, fishing, hiking and biking
  • Perform general maintenance of trails, public facilities, staff buildings, vessels and vehicles
  • Provide visitors with park information and regulations 
  • Register campers

PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER 

  • Clean restrooms, shelters and campsites 
  • Maintenance of facilities and grounds 
  • Mow and trim grass 
  • Painting, electric, carpentry and plumbing work 
  • Refill bathroom supplies 
  • Remove litter 
  • Upkeep of vehicles, equipment and vessels 
  • Use of hand tools and operation of power equipment

PARK NATURALIST

  • Advise the public of general park rules and regulations 
  • Assist with volunteers and youth programs 
  • Develop and maintain bulletin boards, educational materials and exhibits
  • Develop and present interpretive and environmental education programs 
  • May include live animal care and handling associated with the Scales & Tales program
  • Operate and maintain buildings, grounds and nature centers 

TRAIL TECHNICIAN 

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Hike trails of varying difficulty 
  • Perform trail maintenance and construction based on guidelines set forth by the U.S. Forest Service and International Mountain Biking Association

VISITOR SERVICES ATTENDANT 

  • Answer phones and greet customers 
  • Enter data using Excel spreadsheets 
  • Photocopy and type documents 
  • Prepare cash deposits and supporting paperwork 
  • Process bills for payment 
  • Process mail 
  • Process seasonal contracts and seasonal timesheets 

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR 

  • Assist with volunteer projects 
  • Communicate with current and new volunteers by phone and email 
  • Coordinate volunteer training
  • Develop volunteer program advertisements and assist with public relations
  • Maintain volunteer database
  • Provide general customer service and park information to visitors
