Commercial Cobia Fishery Closure: 12:01 a.m. Sept. 5, 2018


The commercial fishery for cobia in Maryland state waters will close at 12:01 a.m. Sept. 5, 2018, and reopen at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 1, 2019.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries estimates that the Atlantic cobia commercial quota will be caught by Sept. 5, 2018. Therefore, federal waters will also close to the commercial harvest of cobia 12:01 a.m. Sept. 5, 2018, and reopen at 12:01 a.m. Jan. 1, 2019.

Maryland is taking this action to comply with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Interstate Management Plan for Atlantic Migratory Group Cobia.
