Reminders: dress for the weather/activity, wear sunscreen and insect repellant, bring plenty of water and snacks, and remember to check for ticks.

June 15: Wilderness Wayfinding 3 p.m. at the Nature Center (Shine only)
During this interactive program, you will learn how to navigate the old-fashioned way - without GPS. After some basic instructions, you will have a chance to test your skills and search for a prize. Compasses are limited.

June 15: Old-Time Jam 6:30-9 p.m. at the Lake House (Rain or shine)
Musicians and listeners of all ages are invited to share and enjoy traditional “old-timey” music. Snacks and gifts will be available for purchase.

June 16: Trail Work Day 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Poplar Lick Trailhead (Rain or shine)
Work will involve the use of shovels and other hand tools to help improve drainage along the Dynamite Shack Loop. Please bring your own gloves, and enjoy a day of camaraderie on the trails.

June 16: Nature Hike 2 p.m. at the Lake House (Shine only)
Join our naturalist on this 2-mile hike and learn about some plants and animals along the way.

June 17: Father's Day Crosscut Saw Competition 2 p.m. at the Nature Center (Shine only)
Families are invited to put their lumberjack skills to the test during a friendly two-person cross-cut saw competition.

June 21: Summer Solstice Paddle 7:30 p.m. at the Lake House (Shine only)
Join a park ranger on the longest day of the year for a peaceful, evening paddle, and discover some of the many species that call New Germany Lake their home. The cost is $10 per boat.

June 22: Nature Bingo 2 p.m. at the Nature Center (Rain or shine)
During this kid-friendly program, families are invited to explore the park in search of native plants and animals. Complete a row of boxes to win a prize.

June 22: What is a Pollinator? 7:30 p.m. at the Lake House (Rain or shine)
Join a park ranger in celebration of National Pollinator Week and learn about the valuable ecosystem services provided by bees, birds, butterflies, bats and beetles.

June 23: Schoolhouse Work Day 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. (Rain or shine)
The Friends of New Germany State Park will be hosting a volunteer work day at the park's historic one-room schoolhouse. Work will involve cleaning the building and removing non-period items. Tools and pizza (at noon) will be provided.
The Friends of New Germany is a nonprofit organization made up of volunteers who care about the park, and want to enhance, maintain and support it through fundraising and a variety of projects. For more information, please email friendsofnewgermany@gmail.com.

In celebration of National Pollinator Week, local master beekeeper Richard Cutter will discuss the fascinating lives of honey bees and the important role they play in our lives.

Join a park ranger on this 2-mile hike and learn about some plants and animals along the way.

June 29: Weed or Wildflower 9-10:30 a.m. at the Native Plant Garden (Shine only)
Bring your work gloves, kneeling pads, weeding tools and some elbow grease to help remove unwanted plants from our native garden!
