The Katie's 5K Race is held annually on National Trails Day in memory of Katie DeRosa, a local teen who was tragically killed by a vehicle while training for her freshman year of cross-country. Katie was an organ donor who gave renewed life to five people.
The race will be held at 9 a.m. June 2 at New Germany State Park. Registration forms are available online or at the Ranger Station.
Proceeds will sponsor two college scholarships in Katie’s memory.
New Germany staff also manages Big Run, Casselman River Bridge and Dans Mountain state parks.
