Old Time Jams Begin May 18 


Old Time Jam Flyer 2018

New Germany is proud to announce the return of good old-fashioned toe-tappin’ fun, with the ninth season of Old Time Jams. The jams will take place on the following Fridays from 6:30-9 p.m.:

  • May 18
  • June 1, 15
  • July 6, 20
  • Aug. 3, 17, 31

These informal gatherings provide an opportunity for musicians and listeners of all ages to share and enjoy traditional “old-timey” Appalachian music. The jams will take place at the Lake House, 403 McAndrews Hill Road. There is no charge for admission. Snacks and gifts will be available for purchase. 


Greg Latta to Perform Summer Concerts

Award-winning musician, Greg Latta, will be performing LIVE at New Germany on the following Saturdays, beginning at 7 p.m.:

  • May 26
  • July 7
  • Aug. 4

    These free concerts will take place in the Lake House. Latta performs a combination of Appalachian, Irish, old-time and traditional music using instruments such as the hammered and Appalachian dulcimers, guitar, banjo, cittern, Irish bouzouki, harmonica, concertina, limberjack and recorder. 

    His accomplishments include winning the prestigious Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award in Solo Music Performance three times, winning the Mid-Eastern Hammered Dulcimer Championships three times, and twice placing second in the National Hammered Dulcimer Championships. Latta has performed for the Hungarian Presidential Cabinet, the U.S. Olympic Trials, the Dance Alloy of Pittsburgh, Frostburg State University and more.


    New Germany staff also manages Big Run, Casselman River Bridge and Dans Mountain state parks.
