The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is soliciting bids for the Maryland Chesapeake Bay Striped Bass Spawning Area Experimental Drift Gill Net Survey: Spring 2018.


Requirements:

  1. A captain having at least five years' experience in drift gill netting in the Howell Point to Turkey Point area of the Upper Chesapeake Bay, one mate and boat to fish experimental drift gill net in the Upper Chesapeake Bay, five to seven days per week, with work to be completed between March 29-May 31.
  2. A captain having at least five years' experience in drift gill netting in the Sandy Point to Freestone Point area of the Potomac River, one mate and boat to fish experimental drift gill net in the Potomac River, five to seven days per week, as needed, with work to be completed between March 29-May 31.
  3. Experimental survey net is to be supplied by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Net is to be set and taken in on a slack tide each day, weather permitting, at the direction of the attending biologist who will accompany all fishing activity. Captains must provide a sound, seaworthy boat and engine, capable of being used for drift gill netting, with functioning depth sounder.

Bid to be: Price per day of fishing; maximum two days will be paid if unable to fish due to adverse weather conditions. Only written bids will be accepted. 

Bids must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16. We recommend sending them via certified mail or hand delivering to contact below.
