EARLY SEPTEMBER EVENTS AT ROCKY GAP

All events are held rain or shine. Last-minute cancellations may occur in the event of a heat advisory, thunderstorm or other natural threat.


Sept. 1Canyon Overlook Hike 
7 p.m. at the Touch of Nature Parking Lot

Join us on this short hike through an old hemlock forest to view the ‘gap’ of Rocky Gap. The 45-minute hike is great for beginners and families.


Sept. 3: Mushroom Hike
3 p.m. at the Nature Center

Join the naturalists on a short hike along the Lakeside Loop Trail to search for mushrooms. This hike is great for beginners and fun for all ages. 


Sept. 4: Beaver Lodge Hike
11 a.m. at the Nature Center

Get in some steps while hiking along the Lakeside Loop with a naturalist. You will see a real beaver lodge and learn some interesting facts about our largest rodent.


Sept. 5: North Beach Yoga
6 p.m. at North Beach

Join Yogafit instructor Samantha for an all-levels class. Flow and cycles in nature remind us to be present in the moment, and to appreciate the wonder and beauty around us. Meet near the boathouse with a mat or blanket, and bring an extra layer of clothes for a cool evening.


Sept. 7: Park HIIT Workout
5:30 p.m. at Mountain View Pavilion

Change up your workout with this 45-minute high intensity course instructed by health coach, educator and personal trainer Carey Moffatt. All fitness levels are encouraged to participate, as each move can be adjusted to individual needs. Meet in the day use area.


Sept. 7: De-stress Beach Yoga
6:30 p.m. at West Beach

Unwind and join Yogafit instructor Leslee for a beautiful beach yoga practice. Meet in the day use area with a mat or blanket, and bring an extra layer of clothes for a cool evening.


Sept. 8: Glorious Gorge Hike 
6 p.m. at the Touch of Nature Parking Lot

Take an hourlong hike through the breathtaking Gorge of Rocky Gap just before sunset! Wear close-toed shoes and bring a water bottle.


Sept. 9: Wellness Fair Celebration
10:30 a.m- 3 p.m. in the Day Use Area

Join us for a packed day of outdoor fun, exploration, calorie burning and good company! A full schedule of events can be found on the Friends of Rocky Gap Facebook page, but some highlights include hiking, paddling and yoga.


Sept. 12: Park HIIT Workout

Sept. 14: Wild Women’s Wednesday: Do Good, Feel Good Paddle
5:45 p.m. at North Beach

Enjoy a beautiful and peaceful evening paddle on Lake Habeeb in your boat of choice while doing some good! Using #Take8fortheLake, we’ll set out for a little over an hour with the goal of each person picking up at least eight pieces of trash. Then, we’ll slow it down and focus on relaxing, reflecting and reenergizing for the second half of your week. Bags, gloves and grabbers will be provided. Please arrive about 10 minutes early.


Sept. 15: Peaceful Paddle
6 p.m. at North Beach

Enjoy a peaceful paddle on Lake Habeeb while looking for native wildlife in the water, on the shore and in the skies! You’ll be able to choose between a kayak or canoe an a first-come, first-served basis. Meet at the boat house about 10 minutes early.


Sept. 17: Rocky Trail Hike
2 p.m. at Nature Center

Join the naturalists on a hike along the Rocky and Lakeside Loop trails. This two-hour, fast-paced fitness hike will focus on getting hikers moving while enjoying beautiful scenery! Wear close-toed shoes and bring a water bottle. Meet near the campground.
