Join us this month for our exciting programs and activities!
Events are free and fun for all ages unless otherwise noted. Charges for programs with entry fees are $3 per Maryland resident and $5 per out-of-state visitor. Children in car seats enter free.

Pontoon Tours: Saturdays and Sundays at 2 and 4 p.m. Meet at the boat center
On this relaxing 45-minute ride, you will learn about the history of the area and search for wildlife that call Clopper Lake home. $2/person in addition to park entrance fees on weekends and holidays.
Reptile Encounters: Sundays at 5 p.m. Meet at the Nature Shack next to the tire playground
Meet a living snake, and examine shells and skins from reptiles living in the park! Park entrance fees apply on weekends and holidays.
Reptile Feeding: Mondays at 11 a.m. Meet at the park office
Learn reptile facts and watch our resident snake and turtle eat their meals!
Nature Shack: Tuesdays at 1 p.m. Meet at the Nature Shack next to the tire playground
Check out fun crafts, games and hands-on nature items. Activities vary each week!
Story Time: Thursdays at 2 p.m. Meet at the Nature Shack next to the tire playground
Join us for a nature-based story, song and fun. Geared toward children 7 and under.
Take Me Fishing: Every other Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Meet at the boat center
Join an expert angler for a beginner’s course in fishing. We supply rods and reels, though you may bring your own. Non-tidal licenses are otherwise required for ages 16 and up. Park entrance fees apply on weekends and holidays.
Fourth of July Special programming
On this Independence Day, we are hosting Take Me Fishing with Ted Manley at 8:30 a.m., the Nature Shack program at 12 p.m. and pontoon tours at 2 and 4 p.m. It is also a free fishing day throughout the state, which means no licenses are needed!
July 1: Nature Crafts at noon Meet at the Nature Shack next to the tire playground
Celebrate summer and take home a creation of your own! Park entry fees apply.
July 3: Scavenger Hunt Walk at 2 p.m. Meet at the tire playground
Be ready to hunt for natural objects around the playground area.
July 7: Civil War Walk at 6 p.m. Meet at the park office
Join us for a 45-minute guided walking tour of Seneca’s Civil War history.
July 8: Evening Paddle at 6 p.m. Meet at the boat center
Hone your canoe skills and search for wildlife as they go about their (typically nocturnal) daily tasks. Space is limited, so be sure to register. $5/boat if using a park canoe in addition to park entry fees.
July 9, 16: Bluebird Walk at 6 p.m., 9 a.m. Meet at the Nature Shack next to tire playground
Learn about the Eastern bluebird and our rescue nesting box program. Park entry fees apply.
July 15: Yoga in the Park at 8:30 a.m. Meet at the Kingfisher Overlook; rain location in park office
Join local Yogi Marie Babb for 1.5 hours of yoga. Bring a mat, towel and water. Suggested donation of $8 to Friends of Seneca Creek State Park in addition to park entry fees.
July 19: Moonlight Pontoon at 8 p.m. Meet at the boat center
Take a relaxing 45-minute evening ride, learn about the history of the area and search for wildlife that call Clopper Lake home! $2/person.
July 21: Wildflower Walk at 2 p.m. Meet at the park office
Join us for a guided 2-mile walk to take in the beauty of wildflowers. Bring your identification guide (not required) to learn how to look for Seneca’s common species. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.
July 22: Leave No Trace Walk at 10 a.m. Meet at the Nature Shack
Join volunteer Paul Schimke for a 1.5-mile round-trip guided hike. Explore and learn how we can enjoy the outdoors while protecting the long-term health of our natural world. Wear comfortable hiking shoes. Park entrance fees apply.
July 22: Bees, Bats & Snakes, Oh My! at 7 p.m. Meet at the park office
Many misunderstood species play crucial roles behind the scenes in our lives and ecosystem. Wildlife specialist Kerry Wixted will talk about invertebrates, snakes and mammals, busting myths as she goes!
July 23: Nature Walk & Log Roll at 11 a.m. Meet at the park office
Join Naturalist Nik for a short nature walk to look for local critters around and under logs; maybe even see a salamander! Wear long pants and bug repellent.
July 29: Grusendorf Log Cabin Open House at 10 a.m. Meet at the park office
Have you ever wondered about the log cabin next to our park office? Come learn all about it and the Clopper family, historical residents of the area. Bring the family and try an old-time craft!
July 29: Adventures with Raptors at 6 p.m. Meet in the Pheasant Run Picnic Area
Meet LIVE birds of prey with Deron Meador of Adventures with Raptors. This is a rare opportunity to meet both native and non-native species and learn from experts. Suggested donation of $2/person for Friends of Seneca Creek State Park in addition to park entrance fees.
July 30: Greenway Hike at 9:30 a.m. Meet at the Rt. 28 trailhead
Hike 1.4 miles to the to Black Rock Mill and enjoy a break to explore before hiking back. Park in the lot to the right of Rt. 28 (heading NW) before the bridge. Wear hiking clothes and footwear, and bring plenty of bug spray, sunscreen and water. Please register ahead of time. For ages 10 and up.
