Upcoming Events at Rocky Gap


June 1 at 6 p.m.
Beach Yoga with Leslee

Take in the peaceful views and sounds of nature while practicing yoga. Bring a towel, blanket or yoga mat and meet at West Beach in the day use area. All skill levels are welcome.


June 3 at 10 a.m. 
Native Plant Hike  

Meet at the Nature Center to stroll along with our local expert and pick up some native plant knowledge! This is an educational hike that lasts approximately one hour.

June 3 at 10:30 a.m.
Trail Trash Heroes

Make a big difference spending an hour cleaning up the trail! Meet at the Amphitheater (off of Pleasant Valley Road) for an hour hike to help keep Rocky Gap beautiful and safe for people, our waterways and wildlife. Trash bags and gloves will be provided; you just need to bring some helping hands, muscle and heart!

June 3 at 1 p.m.
Lakeside Loop Hike 

Meet at the Nature Center to hike the longest trail Rocky Gap has to offer. Lakeside Loop is 5.3 miles of gorgeous trail circling Lake Habeeb. This intermediate level hike through hardwood forests takes several hours, so bring plenty of water and snacks. 

June 3 at 3 p.m.
Wonderful Woodpeckers Hike 

Join us at the Nature Center as we hike down the Lakeside Loop Trail to look for the signs and sounds of our woodpecker friends! 

Remember, June 3 is also National Trails Day!


June 5 at 5 p.m.
Open Swim  

Need to prepare for an upcoming race? Looking for a new fitness challenge? We have just the option for you! Join us on West Beach in the day use area for open swims. If air and water temperatures do not equal 120 degrees, you must wear a wet/dry suit to participate. Lifeguards will guide your swim to provide a safe environment.

June 5 at 6 p.m.
Into the Gorge Nature Photography Hike 

Bring your camera and join naturalist/photographer Jenna Linhart for an hour hike into the gorge of Rocky Gap. (Equipment from iPhones to SLRs are welcome!) Early June is breathtaking and full of great photo ops from blooming mountain laurel to evening light through the trees. Share your favorite shots on Facebook or consider entering the Natural Resource photo contest! Meet at the Touch of Nature parking lot and wear close-toed shoes.


June 7 at 6 p.m.
Wild Women’s Wednesday-Intro to Trail Running and Core Workout

If you’re looking to take up or get back into trail running, join us for this introductory program! We’ll go over trail running tips, and then go on a slow, short run, finishing up with a 10-minute core strength workout. Meet at the Touch of Nature parking lot.


June 8 at 5:30 p.m.
HIIT Training

This 45-minute high intensity course is instructed by Jen Thomas, health educator, coach and personal trainer. Meet in the day use area beside the Mountain View Pavilion. All fitness levels welcome.


June 8 at 6 p.m.
Sunset Wildlife Paddle 

Enjoy a peaceful paddle on Lake Habeeb while looking for native wildlife in the water, on the shore and in the skies! You’ll be able to choose between a kayak or canoe. Meet at the boat house in the day use area about 10 minutes ahead of time.


June 10 at 10 a.m.
Dog Hike 

Hit the trail with your furry best friend! We’ll meet at the Touch of Nature parking lot and hike about 2 miles of the Lakeside Loop Trail. There will be a few spots for water-loving pooches to cool off in the water! Dogs must be kept on leashes, and please make sure that they are up-to-date on rabies vaccines.


June 12 at 5 p.m.

Wild Women’s Wednesday- Wild Women Yoga

Join yogafit instructor Leslee Wigfield for a special ladies-only beach yoga session. The sequence is suited for beginners to experienced beginners and promotes inner strength and balance. Meet at West Beach in the day use area and bring a towel or blanket.
